ZANINI ARTE is pleased to present “Timeless Icons”, the largest institutional exhibition of the French artist Jisbar, hosted at the Monastic Refectory of San Benedetto Po (MN), under the patronage of the City of San Benedetto Po, the province of Mantua and the Lombardy Region.
From April 13th to May 11th, 2025, the Monastic Refectory of San Benedetto Po, home to masterpieces by Correggio, Giulio Romano and Girolamo Bonsignori, is set to welcome the innovative and visionary art of Jisbar (1989). One of the most acclaimed and recognized figures in the international street art scene, Jisbar has already collaborated with prestigious brands such as Patek Philippe, JM Weston, Armani, BMW, Ducati and renowned sports champions like Fabio Quartararo and Kylian Mbappé.
The opening event, in the presence of the artist, alongside curator Sandie Zanini and representatives of local institutions, will take place on Sunday, April 13th, at 6:00 PM.
Over 25 original artworks will bring to life an exhibition where street art meets history, creating a timeless dialogue between the contemporary pop-street language and the great Italian artistic tradition.
The exhibition is divided into three thematic sections, starting from the 16th-century Last Supper by Girolamo Bonsignori (1472-1529), located within the contemporary fresco by Correggio, specifically created for the Refectory in the early 16th century as a tribute to the region’s strong Renaissance heritage.
The first section, dedicated to CLASSICISM, opens with a homage to the masterpieces of Italian art history:
Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, Michelangelo’s David, Canova’s The Three Graces, Amore and Psyche, leading up to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa—Jisbar’s most iconic subject, which gained him worldwide recognition. In 2019, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death, one of Jisbar’s reinterpretations of the Mona Lisa was launched into the stratosphere, reaching an altitude of 33.4 kilometers, carried on a specially designed carbon-fiber spacecraft, securing its place as the first artwork ever sent into space.
The journey continues with a tribute to the ICONS OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF THE 20TH CENTURY, featuring masters like Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Frida Kahlo, and Pablo Picasso, who have deeply influenced Jisbar’s artistic practice.
The exhibition culminates with SYMBOLS OF POP CULTURE, reflecting the pervasive influence of art across cinema, music, sports, and fashion. Jisbar’s works reference Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jordan, Kate Moss, and luxury brands such as Ferrari, Rolex, and Patek Philippe.
Each of Jisbar’s creations is a burst of references and details, a journey through symbols, colors, and cultural citations, inviting the viewer to discover new interpretations with every glance.
This exhibition aims to take visitors on a journey through time and space, exploring the great myths of art history, transformed into timeless icons.
