The Versilia Golf Resort and the Zanini Arte Gallery are pleased to invite you to the Angelo Accardi solo exhibition “Underpressure”.
The exhibition, that will take place from July 13th to September 1st 2024, aims to be an excursus in the artistic career of one of the most popular contemporary artists worldwide. A fine selection of canvases from 2009 to 2024, and some sculptures, retrace the journey of estrangement that the artist wanted to accentuate, year after year, leading him to be recognized worldwide and currently present at the 60th Art Biennale of Venice.
What is the purpose of contemporary art if not to speak about the society of its time in an engaging and provocative manner?
In a world where society tries to plagiarize every human being into conformity, Angelo Accardi teaches us the value of uniqueness, diversity, and amazement.
We are all Misplaced.
Accardi begins his journey into the unusual by bringing ships and airplanes into city streets, Underpressure. Majestic presences of human technology, effigies of modernity. This path continues, evolves. He changes the protagonist, giving it a living, animal essence. Some ostriches frolicking animatedly on the pedestrian crossings of famous metropolitan junctions.
This animal has an innate ability to overcome threats that appear in captivity. It represents the perfect emblem to testify the ability to face the difficulties that pervade contemporary society, in total unpredictability. This anomalous icon wants to exhort us to never bury our heads in the sand but to look at the past, present, and future with the curiosity and the courage of the bold.
The ostrich is Angelo Accardi.
